Pearl & Mary Oyster Bar possesses some of the freshest raw seafood and best service I've had in Philadelphia. ---- Highlights: Pearl & Mary Oyster Bar has an impressive menu, with offerings of raw oysters and clams and other seafood such as lobster, shrimp, octopus, fish, etc. If you're having a craving for any seafood, it'll be at Pearl & Mary and it'll be delicious! Additionally, we loved our dessert so much we ordered a second one immediately to try. ---- Pearl & Mary is a cozy and intimate nautical themed restaurant. For a weekend brunch, I ordered the Grand Tower to share with friends. This two-tiered tower didn't get us (3 people) full, but did fill our stomachs enough and it was certainly worth the value flavor-wise. Here, the oysters were 3 fixed varieties and we loved these. Everything on the tower tasted fresh and while the octopus and crab cocktail weren't my favorite, I think they were in generous portions. The fish and chips were so delicious and honestly the closest thing I've gotten to London fish and chips here in the US. For the price, I really wish they gave more than 2 fillets, but it was airy and crisp and had great flavor. However, the fries were of a great size. Although it was a bit loud due to how busy it was, we enjoyed the extremely thoughtful, kind, and fast service. Here to celebrate a birthday, if you ordered a dessert it came out with a sparkler! We first ordered the banana cream pie which was a hit! It wasn't too sweet and it had a great crispy crust and airy filling. This pie was so good we immediately ordered the pecan upside-down cake! This pecan cake tasted like a less sweet pecan pie filling. Lastly, when the next dessert came out, another sparkler came out. Thank you so much to the server for making the twins' birthdays we were celebrating, so special! As a general recommendation, I would make a reservation. While we didn't have trouble finding a table, shortly after we arrived there were limited seats for those without reservations. I look forward to stopping by another time for happy hour!

Ambiance is amazing. It does seem to get pretty loud inside, but they have outdoor seating as well which was super cute. Food was 10/10, aperol spritz was 10/10. To start we got 1/2 doz oysters and snow crab cluster all were very fresh. Cocktail sauce had freshly grated horseradish, so immediate approval from me. We got the crab cake, which was perfect cooked and the perfect balance of umami and acidity. Comes with a side of pickled celery! Also got the fish and chips. Fish perfectly cooked, moist inside, crunchy outside. Tartar sauce was perfect. Comes with a side of fries and mustard aioli, which I promise is a must try. Service was a little slow, but it was a Friday night and it wasn't enough to deter me from going a second time. *Also, don't sleep on the deviled eggs.

Another amazing happy hour spot in Philly!! Would definitely recommend arriving for happy hour on the earlier side--my friend and I showed up right around 4 on a Saturday and the place was filling up quickly. The bar was entirely full and we were seated outside. I got the Paloma for my drink and it was so delicious! For food we got the oysters which were perfectly salty. I also got the fish sandwich, which was battered and seasoned so well. Additionally, the Thai chicken wings were so yummy and spicy and paired really well with a garlic sauce. The food and drinks were all reasonably priced and the service was quick and friendly. Would definitely come back here!

I came on a Friday night at happy and predictably had to wait, which I was fine with and totally anticipated, and well worth the wait. I got a half dozen of the happy hour raw clams and the Pearl Paloma which were both wonderful. I've had some Paloma's that tasted like straight tequila and grapefruit Lacroix (not my style) but this one was perfect, not overwhelmingly tequila-y and a good dose of grapefruit and sweetness. I've had raw oysters before but this was actually the first time I had raw clams and they were lovely! The best part of the evening however was my seat. I was able to sit right on the corner and enjoy the beautifully unseasonable august weather while people watching and reading my book, a perfect evening in my opinion. Great good, great drinks, great vibes! (Also great matchboxes, they're much bigger than most I've collected)
